Your RV Holding Tanks are simply a place to temporarily place to hold (store) your RV Waste Water.

Most RV's have two or more Holding Tanks. One holds Grey Water Wastes and the other holds Black Water Wastes.

Once your RV Holding Tanks are full, they are emptied into a drain system for someone else to deal with.

The RV Park, Campground or a Municipal Sewer Treatment System receiving your RV Waste Water must dispose of it and deal with it and any problems it creates.

Temporary Storage

RV Holding Tanks are part of your RV Waste Water System. This system is designed and intended to be a place to temporarily hold (store):

2. Shower and body washing water

3. Water from washing and preparing foods

4. Waste Water from cleaning cooking and eating utensils

5. Wastes Water used to clean the inside of your RV

6. If you are fortunate, Waste Water from your washing machine

Even with proper care, Creating, Storing and Disposal of Create Safe RV Waste Water can be a time consuming task.

However, with proper education and procedures you can create a safe RV Holding Tank Environment that will benefit you and the system you dump into.

Black And Grey Waste Water Holding Tanks

The RV Black Water Holding Tank and the RV Grey Water Holding Tanks in are not usually connected. Each Holding Tank should have separate fixtures to receive wastes and each should also have it's own gate valve to control draining the tanks.

Draining RV Holding Tanks

The dumping of Black and Grey Waste Water Holding Tanks is generally controlled by a third valve that has a connection to each tank that also provides a connection for a sewer hose. The sewer hose is then connected to an approved RV Sewer Dump Station or RV Sewer Disposal System.

Location Of RV Holding Tanks

Most RV Holding Tanks are mounted below the floor level. Some tanks are sandwiched between the upper floor and a sub-floor. Many are located between the floor and a belly pan. RV Holding Tanks should be removable for repair or replacement.

The construction and the layout of the floor plan are the two main factors in determining where the Holding Tanks in your RV are to be located.
